Frame and Wheel Performance Wheel Selling Program
The Frame and Wheel Performance Wheel Selling Program allows customers to sell their unused performance wheels while they upgrade to performance wheels obtained from any of our Performance Wheel Selling Program Partners. The program is operated by Frame and Wheel eBay Selling Services.
Q: How is the Frame and Wheel Performance Wheel Selling Program different from the Frame and Wheel Bike Switch Program?
A: The Frame and Wheel Performance Wheel Selling Program is a consignment program. This means that you place your wheels for sale on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store and once they are sold, you are paid the proceeds net of a commission to Frame and Wheel. The consignment model takes longer but there is more upside in the selling price
Q: What is the commission?
A: Frame and Wheel provides its services on a cost plus basis. This means that the seller pays the costs related to the sale of the item (eBay, Pay Pal, any VeloDrone or Pick Up fees) plus a scaled commission to Frame and Wheel. The commission is 30 percent on the first five hundred dollars of the hammer price of the item and 15 percent on the amount above that.
Q: Who is this program for?
A: Individual cyclists who are upgrading to performance wheels provided by any of our Performance Wheel Selling Program Partners.
Q: How much will my wheels sell for?
A: You should expect your wheels to sell for the market price. The market price reflects the brand and model, specifications and wear and tear from use. The price that you paid for your wheels is not the price at which they are going to sell. If you have an expectation on price, you should try selling your wheels on your own first.
Q: What kind of wheels do you take?
A: This program is for pre-owned performance wheels in good condition and operating properly.
Q: What is a performance wheel?
A: Performance wheels had a retail value greater than $1,500 when you purchased them. They are one to five model years old, they are made of carbon fiber and used for competition.
Q: What does Frame and Wheel need to know about the performance wheels I want to sell?
A: We need a short description of the key specifications: rim type (clincher, tubeless or tubular), free hub body (Shimano, Campagnolo, XD) cassette type (10s, 11s, 12s). An image is helpful, but not essential.
Q: What condition do the wheels have to be in.
A: They have to be clean and operating properly. This means that they have to be true and the the hubs have to be spinning freely and smoothly. The wheels are rideable and you would ride them.
Q: What about power meters?
A: We will take wheels that have power meters built in to the hub. The power meters have to be working properly.
Q: Will you take the tires and the cassettes that are on the wheels?
A: Yes. We will remove the tires and cassette and if they are not too worn out get them sold.
Q: What if I have more than five sets of wheels?
A: We can arrange for your wheels to be picked up by a three party transporter.
Q: What do I get the wheels to you?
A: Let us know your full name, mailing address and telephone number and we will email you out contact information. Pack up the wheels in lightly used wheel boxes and ship.
Q: Will you send me shipping labels?
A: Yes. Get the wheels into their boxes and send us the dimensions. We will email you a shipping label and deduct the cost from the proceeds.
Q: How long will it take to sell my wheels?
A: You should allow thirty days for the wheels to sell.
Q: What if they have not sold in thirty days?
A: After thirty days, we will pay a buy out price for your wheels which is the market price less a discount for the risk we are taking by putting your wheels in our inventory and associated storage costs.
Q: What do you consider in the buy out price?
A: We consider 1) the brand, model, model year and specifications of your wheels; 2) the condition they are in; and, 3) previous secondary market transactions for your wheels or comparable models.
Q: What if I don’t like the sound of that?
A: We can make you an offer for your wheels, but you will still have to send them to us first so that we can inspect them to make sure they are working properly and sellable. Our offer price will reflect the same factors as the buy out price as well as the time value of money.
Q: Why should I use this service?
A: You have a garage full of rim brake wheels and your newest bike is disc; you do not have the time or the boxes necessary to sell the wheels yourself; you want some cash so that you can offset the cost of new Alto, Lightweight, Mercury, NEXT wheels; or you want some cash so you can get some new tires and cassettes for your new wheels.
Q: What if I have some more questions?
A: Please give us a call and we can explain more about the program and work with you to figure out a way to get your wheels sold. 207 221 5151
